Domaine de la Pépière, Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie 'Briords' 2024
£24.00
The Clos des Briords is from an 80-year-old-vine parcel. The sandy clay soils are rich in granite de Thébaud, a type differing from granite de Clisson in in its higher feldspar and clay content; it is cooler, holds water well and ripens the fruit more slowly. This was the first parcel Marc Ollivier purchased back in the 1980s, with his first vintage being 1985. It's only since the early 2000s that Marc's approach has begun to differ, cementing his wines as benchmarks within the region; native yeasts and only a touch of sulphur at bottling provides an unrivalled expression of Melon de Bourgogne.
