Zippy and summery Sauvignon from the Loire
Guy Allion is an estate of four generations of Allion, who have maintained a sense of pride with regards to their ability to cultivate and produce incredible Sauvignon Blanc in the area. What's more, their pursuit of minimal interventionist winemaking, although not organic certified, comes through in the purity of flavours. This type of approach is known as lutte raisonnee translated as 'reasoned struggle'. The meaning here places an emphasis on the acknowledged struggle of letting nature take its course with the wines, despite the potential for diaster in more troublesome vintages.
This vintage though, is as fresh as it gets. If you prefer a more mineral feel to your white wine, then head to Sancerre to feel the rounding silex soils. However, in the sunshine, nothing beats this Touraine Sauv. Bursting with cistrus fruits, this is a lunch time quaffer.
