Made from tiny yields of 15 hectoliters per hectare (it achieved 14.5% natural alcohol), the 1996 Terra d'Or Coteaux d'Aix en Provence is even more impressive from bottle than it was from barrel. It boasts an opaque black/purple color, as well as a knock-out nose of cassis, kirsch, underbrush, truffles, and pain grille. Rich and full-bodied, with an unctuous texture, and intense, smoky, black currant flavors with a touch of licorice, this sensationally extracted, pure, well-built wine should be at its peak between 2001-2020.
